{"id":441,"date":"2013-05-28T13:00:15","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T13:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalscience.ie?p=441"},"modified":"2013-05-28T13:00:15","modified_gmt":"2013-05-28T13:00:15","slug":"spire-seminar-june-18-hauwa-ibrahim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/politicalscience.ie\/?p=441","title":{"rendered":"SPIRe Seminar June 18: Hauwa Ibrahim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The School of Politics and International Relations and the UCD Human Rights Network will host a seminar with Hauwa Ibrahim, Winner of the European Parliament\u2019s Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, 2005. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The seminar will take place June 18, 2013 from 11am-1pm in Room G317 in the Newman Building, Belfield Campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Hauwa Ibrahim is a Nigerian human rights lawyer, who has won a number of precedent setting cases before Islamic Shariah Courts. She is perhaps most famous for being a lawyer for Amina Lawal and Safiya Hussaini, both sentenced to death by stoning for having a child outside of marriage. Both sentences were overturned.
